Kevin Pieterson faces axe from ODI’s too
Sometimes in life, when trouble comes, it comes from all the sides. And that is exactly what seems to have happened for England’s star batsman Kevin Pieterson. After having axed from the World T20 squad and the final test against South Africa, the 32 year old right hander was dropped from England’s ODI squad too. The stylish right hander, who has appeared in 127 One Day Internationals for England and maintains a good average of 41.84 was dropped for the five match ODI series against South Africa.
Selectors have maintained that Kevin Pieterson’s texting controversy, earlier this month is far from over and the South African born batsman was yet to come clean on that. Even after Pieterson’s apology, ECB selectors didn’t pick him for the ODI squad. England Coach Andy Flower said “There are unresolved issues of trust and respect which have to be resolved.” ECB told the media “Kevin Pietersen’s future involvement is still being determined and he was therefore not considered for selection in either squad,”
Even as England Captain Andrew Strauss would highlight the fact that England would not miss Kevin Pieterson, but it’s quite clear that England surely need someone of Pieterson’s caliber to add strength in their batting department. England just lost 0-2 to South Africa, which also mean that they are no longer the no.1 team in the World. For the moment, Kevin Pieterson is staring at a harsh reality and he quickly needs to make amendments to step back in the field.
