Adnan Akmal breaks his ring finger
Kandy: Pakistan had an ominous start in the third and final Test against Sri Lanka with their wicket keeper Adnan Akmal suffering a hair line fracture on his left ring finger. Even the gloves couldn’t save the 27 year-old who was trying to stave off a bouncer from Dilhara Fernando and subsequently had to retire while batting at the score of 10. He returned after getting first aid and scored 24 runs before losing his wicket to Herath. Pakistan management confirmed the news of Akmal’s injury. The only experienced wicketkeeper on the Pakistan roster, Akmal’s presence for the rest of the game is now uncertain. This means that Pakistan would have to resort to their standby wicket-keeper Taufeew Umar, who might find it arduous to keep the spinners. This shocking event may force Pakistan, who is facing a 1-0 lead, to rethink their strategy in order to win this match and draw the series.
