England vs. South Africa, 3rd Test, Day 5- South Africa finish series in style, claim no.1 spot
Lords: Finally the Proteas proved that they are the best Test side in the world by defeating England 2-0 in the three match series. On the final day of the final test, England needed 330 runs to win the match with 8 wickets in hand but South African seamers continued their strike with the ball as they were using the seam quite well to get the turn from the pitch and disturb the England batsmen. Resuming from 16-2, the score soon became 45-4 and England were finding it really hard to score runs as they could score only 30 runs in first 15 overs of the day.. After that Jonathon Trott (63) and Jonny Bairstow (54) gave their team a ray of hope by coming up with 89 run partnership between them but it was finally broken by a superb piece of bowling by Imran Tahir (1-88). Later on, some bold batting by Matt Prior gave some hope to English cricket team but all efforts went in vain in front of Vernon Philander’s (5-30) awesome bowling and South Africa won the match by 51 runs. Philander was chosen as Man of the Match and Hashim Amla was chosen as the Man of the Series.
