Australia’s Tour of UAE 2012- Tour Preview
Former World champion Australia will take one of the World’s best bowling attacks in a closely contested ODI series against Pakistan in UAE. Both the teams will play three ODI’s and three t20 matches. This bilateral series is a part of Future Cricket Tour Programs (FTP) organized by International Cricket Council. Further one match, which is first match of the tournament, will be played between Afghanistan and Australia on 25th August 2012 at Sharjah Cricket Association Sharjah. The spirited Afghanistan team, who earlier played Pakistan, will get much needed International exposure by playing against such a highly ranked ODI team.
Australians have a good team for this tour. The responsibility for good opening lies with David Warner and Mathew Wade, whereas middle order will be strengthened by Captain Michael Clarke, Michael Hussey and David Hussey’s presence. The Bowling attack will be handled by Xavier Doherty, James Pattinson and Mitchell Johnson.
On the other hand Pakistan has an amazing blend of spinners like Saeed Ajmal, Abdur Rehman and Mohammad Hafeez and pacers like Umar Gul and Sohail Tanveer. Pakistan’s batting lineup is strengthened by Mohammad Hafeez, Nasir Jamshed and Umar Akmal. It’s going to be a tough competition betweenAustralia’s pacers vs. Pakistan Spinners.
Various venues where matches will be played are Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium, Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi and and Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Further Australian coach Mickey Arthur will not be available as a coach for ODI series as he wants to focus on preparations for ICC T20 World Cup, so in his absence responsibilities will be handled by Fielding Mentor Steve Rixon.
